At Remake MyHair, we specialize in hand-tied wigs for males and females for non and medical reasons. A Hair Prosthesis wig is different from a traditional wig as unique materials resemble a scalp as hair is tied onto the lace using various knotting methods.
HOW TO QUALIFY REIMBURSEMENT
To qualify, you should first obtain a prescription from a certified medical practitioner/personal doctor indicating that you require a Hair Prosthesis for medical reasons.
Some reasons why one may need a hair prosthesis is:
- Thyroid-or kidney hair loss
- Alopecia areata
- Alopecia Totalis
- Trichotillomania
- Chemotherapy or any other clinical disease or treatment that results in hair loss.
All certified copies of the prescription must be dated and bear your name, address, and phone number.
Coverage and eligibility may vary among insurance companies, so please check your health coverage provider to see if your wig or hairpiece warrants a reimbursement.

Once you establish the position of your service provider, the next step is readiness and preparations that can help you speed up the process of a claim with your insurer.
All certified copies of the prescription must be dated and bear your name, address, and phone number. However, your insurance company can confirm the parameters they require to affect a claim.
Your health care provider should provide you with a sales receipt for a medical hair prosthesis.
The sales receipt will be needed and should be mailed together with the prescription to your insurance company.
Remember to retain photocopies of all relevant information for insurance and personal records.

How To Measure Your Hair For A Wig
Get a flexible measuring tape and measure your head with your hair laying as flat as possible.
Examples of how to do so:
1) Cornrow your hair as shown by the model below
2) Wrap and pin your hair
3) Put a stocking cap on your head
If your measurements aren’t on the chart, you may have to consider getting a custom-made wig to fit securely on your head.
STEP 1:
CIRCUMFERENCE
Follow your hairline around your head from right to left
STEP 2:
FRONT TO NAPE
Measure from the front of your natural hairline down the center of the head to the nape of your neck
STEP 3:
EAR TO EAR ACROSS THE FRONT HAIRLINE
Running the measuring tape along the hairline go from one ear to the next
STEP 4:
EAR TO EAR ACROSS THE TOP
Measure from your right ear, across and over the top of your head to your left ear.
STEP 5:
TEMPLE TO TEMPLE AROUND BACK
Take the measuring tape and start from the right temple around the back of the head to the left temple.
STEP 6:
NAPE OF NECK
Measure the width of your hairline at the back of your neck
