Boho braids have entered the chat. What began as Hailey Bieber’s low-key approach to red-carpet hair (she showed off a loose, low-slung braid at the 2022 Grammys) has escalated quickly, with multiple influential women now revisiting this easy classic—and elevating the humble braid to chic new heights in the process.

Joining Bieber in the boho braids club are Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Anya Taylor-Joy, both of whom sported iterations of a simple braid while out and about this week. At the launch of her new Rose Inc Satin Lipsticks in London, Huntington-Whiteley—resplendent in red—wore her hair in a soft, glossy braid much like Bieber’s, with tousled tendrils framing her face.

Taylor-Joy, on the other hand, wore her icy-blonde lengths in a tighter plait when leaving a London hotel. The common denominator between all three styles was a center parting, but the beauty of boho braids is that you can switch it up depending on the occasion and outfit.

The braid isn’t just a practical way to pull your hair off your face as you go about your day; it’s also a great look when juxtaposed with a more formal ensemble. Creating a bohemian finish to your plait is particularly now, and achieving that lies in the little details, from leaving some strands to fall around the face to plaiting the hair loosely.

If experimenting with red hair feels a little too drastic, then a simple braid is the easy—and equally current—hair trend to try this summer.
